Portugal wins more Michelin Stars in 2017

Queluz Palace - Tours by Jorge

This year 21 restaurants were distinguished in Portugal (7 more than the previous year) and a total of 26 Michelin stars were awarded. Two new restaurants were awarded 2 stars, Ricardo Costa at Yeatman in Vila Nova de Gaia and Benoit Sinthon at Gallo d’Oro in Funchal, Madeira. The three restaurants that had previously been distinguished with 2 stars, maintained the classification: José Avillez of Belcanto in Lisbon, Hans Neuner of Ocean and Dieter Koschina of Vila Joya, in the Algarve region.

One star was awarded to the following chefs: Rui Paula at Casa de Chá da Boa Nova and Vitor Matos at Antiquum, both in Oporto, Henrique Sá Pessoa at  Alma and Alexandre Silva at Loco, in Lisbon, Sergi Arola at LAB in Sintra and Luís Pestana (under the signature of Joachim Koerper) at William in Funchal.  Miguel Laffan earned back a star for L’And in the Alentejo.
